PM Anwar's Strong Message: Protecting National Security & Inter-racial Harmony (2026)

Prime Minister Issues Strong Warning to Those Threatening National Security

In a firm statement, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has warned of severe consequences for any party that disrupts national security during the country's current guest visits. During a Cabinet meeting yesterday, the Prime Minister instructed the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, to take decisive action, and also sent a clear message to the Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

"Criticism and differing opinions are welcome in this nation, but they must not compromise national security or disrupt the situation when our country is hosting guests," Mr. Anwar emphasized. "I will not hesitate to take stern action, including arrests and imprisonment, against those who attempt to betray or complicate the situation."

He continued, "Inciting hatred or violating legal principles is unacceptable. Remember, you are not judges or police chiefs. Attempting to assume their roles will result in immediate arrest and imprisonment."

Mr. Anwar's speech at the Selangor PKR Convention today emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order. He also addressed the participants of the rally against 'illegal' houses of worship, urging them not to overstep their bounds and exploit sensitive issues that could strain inter-racial relations.

The Tambun MP made it clear that the construction of houses of worship must adhere to the law, stating that everyone is subject to the same regulations. "Breaking the rules will only breed hatred and fail to resolve the problem," he warned.

Earlier, the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, announced that the police would not permit the rally to proceed in front of the Sogo shopping complex, citing security intelligence and feedback from various parties, including the premises owners.

However, the rally's controversial independent speaker and coordinator, Zamri Vinoth, defiantly announced that the rally would continue. The Home Ministry (KDN) had previously stated that the police would engage with the organizers to request the cancellation of the rally due to the ongoing official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which began on February 7, 2026.

This situation raises important questions about the balance between freedom of expression and national security, inviting further discussion and debate.
